KAY for ROCA

KAY began with the intention to introduce a squarish faucet family to Roca’s portfolio. Traditionally, squarish faucets evoke associations of strength—boxy, edgy—often creating contrast rather than seamlessly integrating with their surroundings. With KAY, the ambition was to challenge this convention, offering a more nuanced, refined expression of stability, precision, and calm—a multi-faceted interpretation of strength that moves beyond stereotypes.

A key inspiration for the design emerged from an unexpected source: harbor bollards. These sturdy fixtures, anchored to the shore to secure ships, possess a sculptural presence – strong yet unobtrusive, deeply rooted yet quietly confident. Their geometry, a balance of clear lines and subtly softened edges, is shaped entirely by function. Exploring the many variations of these forms revealed a fascinating intersection between utility and aesthetics – an idea that became central to the KAY collection.

KAY introduces subtle yet intelligent refinements to everyday interaction with water. The handle, designed to appear almost weightless, is the result of extensive engineering refinement that minimizes bulk while ensuring seamless functionality. Cold water is the default setting, eliminating unnecessary energy waste, while a discreet red inlay subtly indicates hot water – reducing visual clutter while enhancing usability.

“A faucet is one of the few elements in a home that we physically interact with daily. It should feel intuitive, effortless – like architecture you hold in your hand.”

Faucet collection

Cast brass with six finishes: chrome, matt black, matt white, brushed brass, brushed graphite, and stainless steel finish

KAY is a faucet family with a distinct personality – one that asserts itself on the basin with character and presence. Sculptural and iconic, yet never overpowering, KAY is defined by a simple and logical interplay of shapes and cuts, forming a cohesive design language – a kind of alphabet that unifies the collection. The challenge was to maintain clarity and minimalism without slipping into banality. Every detail, from proportions to transitions, was carefully refined to ensure consistency across the range while preserving a sense of individuality within each model.

KAY is a collection extending across a range of configurations to suit different spatial and functional needs. From the standard and XL basin mixers to the elegant and sculptural three-hole configuration, built-in two- and three-hole options, and wall-mounted bath and shower mixers – each product integrates effortlessly into a variety of architectural contexts.

KAY is a statement of thoughtful design – timeless, recognizable, and enduring. A seamless blend of precision and emotion, it reimagines the role of a squarish faucet in contemporary spaces, embodying both functionality and sculptural beauty.
