BOSS for HYDRO

BOSS began with the intention to elevate the waste bin—not as an object to be hidden, but as one to be showcased.
Traditionally, waste bins have been considered purely utilitarian—often overlooked in design and relegated to the background. BOSS challenges this norm by transforming recycling into a visible, purposeful gesture. Using just two custom aluminum profiles, BOSS enables the creation of multiple variations—offering a flexible system that balances material efficiency with refined aesthetics.

“BOSS isn’t just a waste bin; it’s a statement. It’s about making sustainability visible and transforming an ordinary object into something that contributes to the overall aesthetic of a space.”

Stefan Diez

BOSS is crafted from precisely engineered aluminum profiles that interlock seamlessly to form a unified structure. The connection between the profiles creates a channel that accommodates various functional details. The one in the lid, for example, houses the rotary axis, ensuring a smooth and secure opening mechanism. By embedding these functional elements directly into the profiles, the design achieves a striking formal reduction.

„All these things are in a way solved by the extrusion profile itself, and these features are coming out of a particular cut and milling of the profile.“

Recycling bins

Anodised aluminium

BOSS is a recycling bin that asserts itself with purpose and clarity. Bold yet refined, BOSS combines functional simplicity with sculptural beauty. It challenges the traditional concept of waste bins by turning them from hidden objects into visible, intentional parts of the space. Every detail – from material choice to the seamless interaction of components – has been carefully considered to strike a dialogue between practicality and aesthetic appeal.

The BOSS collection is designed to offer flexible solutions for various spatial and functional needs. Thanks to its innovative use of a single aluminum profile, different sizes can be created effortlessly, ensuring a perfect fit for any environment. The design allows for a range of heights and configurations, making it easy to adapt the bin to different applications while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. This modular approach is not only practical but also sustainable, minimizing waste and maximizing the potential of each profile.

BOSS not only redefines the typology of the waste bin, but also encourages a new perspective on what we throw into it. In an ideal world, there is no waste, only resources that can be continuously reused. Made from recycled aluminum, BOSS stands as a clear example of this approach, communicating the idea in a way that is both direct and poetic.
