Besteckserie – Edelstahl
Die Qualität jedes Bestecks definiert sich über dessen haptische Wahrnehmung. Bei Tema stand daher am Anfang die bewusste Entscheidung, das Besteck in Form von Gipsmodellen mit der Hand zu entwerfen. Stefan Diez goss in seinem Studio 1:1 Metall-Prototypen aus Gipsformen und probierte diese wiederholt beim Abendessen und Frühstück aus. Jedes einzelne Besteckteil, das aus dem Modellbau entstand, wurde digitalisiert und in 3D-Daten umgewandelt. Der Hersteller veränderte kurzfristig den ursprünglichen Entwurf, um das Besteck mit Standardblech produzieren zu können, wobei viele wichtige Details der ursprünglichen Formgebung verloren gingen.
Cutlery Set – stainless steel
Every piece of cutlery is defined through its sensual relationship with our hands. It therefore made sense to initiate the design of a cutlery set by manually experimenting with metal models at a 1:1 scale. The results were tested at the dinner and breakfast table at several occasions. Once finalized, the pieces were digitized and converted into 3D data. Due to last minute changes in the production method in order to reduce manufacturing cost, some key features of the original design remained unrealized or suffered heavily in terms of propertyon and balance.
