DIEZ OFFICE designs and develops products for everyday use, focusing in particular on the potential of the circular economy. Our practice is characterised by innovation through technical expertise, instinct and a great passion for experimentation.

Stefan Diez is an industrial designer working between Bassano del Grappa, Munich and Vienna, developing products and systems for a circular economy.

Since founding his studio in 2002, Diez has been part of a generation of designers that has helped redefine how products are conceived, developed and made. Today, his practice is structured across DIEZ OFFICE in Bassano del Grappa and the STUDIO in Munich. Together, they work across furniture, lighting, architectural elements and accessories, combining technical expertise, creative experimentation and a rigorous commitment to sustainability.

This approach is framed by Stefan’s 10 Circular Design Guidelines, a set of principles that propose a more responsible model for industrial production — one in which commercial success and environmental intelligence are not opposing forces, but part of the same brief.

DIEZ OFFICE in Bassano del Grappa is the conceptual and strategic centre of the practice: a place for authorship, research, communication and long-term collaboration. The STUDIO in Munich builds on the hands-on legacy of Stefan’s original workshop environment and focuses on the development and delivery of products and systems in close dialogue with manufacturers, engineers, suppliers and specialist partners.

Taken together, this structure reflects the way Diez works more broadly: between concept and construction, strategy and execution, reflection and industry. The aim is not complexity for its own sake, but clarity — finding simple, contemporary responses to increasingly complex demands.
Over the course of his career, Stefan has created numerous award-winning products and developed long-term collaborations with internationally renowned manufacturers including HAY, Vibia, Magis, Herman Miller, e15, Midgard, Thonet, Roca and Kaldewei.

Vienna adds a third perspective that is central to the practice: teaching. As head of the Industrial Design programme at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Stefan works with students on the questions design faces now — from circularity and resources to the typologies of everyday life and the cultural role of design itself. The class offers direct insight into practice through close industry exchange, regular excursions to manufacturers and the public exhibition of student work. In turn, this dialogue between teaching and practice continues to shape Stefan’s own thinking. It also sharpens a line of enquiry that increasingly informs his work: the search for a constructive zero point — a reduction to what is essential, where clarity, logic and material intelligence meet with precision. More about the programme can be found at www.angewandte-id.com and on Instagram at @angewandte_id.

The images on this website reflect that broader practice. They move between OFFICE, STUDIO and university context, offering a fuller picture of the environments, collaborations and ideas that shape Stefan Diez’s work today.
